About Me
Parzival Popof, MA, LMHC (he/they)
Hello! I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) working and living in Seattle, WA. I love to support people experiencing anxiety arising from relationship or social issues, work stress, and healing from family/interpersonal trauma.

My therapy process includes establishing a trusting space in which to share your story, exploring psychological flexibility skills offered by acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and deepening the abilities to connect and extend compassion to self and other.

I believe connection is key to mental health - connection to your present-moment senses, connection to your mind and body, and to the people and things around you. From a place of connection, you can effectively address growth areas, cultivate routines, foster relationship, and understand one’s own emotions and needs.

Outside of mental health counseling, I am a music making, nature-loving, gender-expansive spouse, parent, and dog and bunny papa.
My Approach
Build Relationship
Whether you meet for one session or one hundred sessions, I strive to meet you where you are at. Interactions of genuine humanity help us navigate short-term problem-solving and/or develop longer-term trust to address sensitive and deep-seated issues. I also bring experience and special interest to helping you build your own relationships, working with those experiencing social anxiety, intimacy issues, and the effects of childhood trauma.
Increase Psychological Flexibility
Acute mental health struggle often develops through rigid patterns of thinking, feeling, and acting that prevent healthy living. Through applying the theory and practices of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), I help you develop more flexible ways of thinking, acting, and responding to feelings.
Orient To Your Values
Life presents us with various hardships we could not avoid, such as illness, relationship strain, grief and loss, and a myriad of other essential sufferings. Where we have choice is in how we respond to our sufferings and in the values we live by. Orienting to our authentic values and guiding our decisions by those values during distress can reduce self-added suffering and give a sense of autonomy and identity.
Maintain Gains with Sustainable Habits
Changing mental health and life satisfaction starts with being able to change one's own mind states. I help you learn to down-shift, up-shift, unhook, and refocus the thoughts in your head, allowing your thinking to become more flexible. This flexibility can in turn help you interface with the natural and social rhythms around you, and ultimately build the kind of habits that build the character and legacy you want.
